For two weeks in March, 14 designers, writers, and photographers from all over the country gathered together in Belfast, Maine. Headed by John Bielenberg, Project M addresses challenging times while encouraging designers to think wrong. After trying to think up ways to reverse global warming and save the economy we all took one step back and took two steps forward. What the community was lacking was, in fact, a sense of community. We decided to gather people together and give them a reason to smile. Pie was our medium. Free pie. This was the start of the Free Pie Movement, and thus led to Pie Lab.
